passion-acting

Besides watching football( if one regards it as a passion), i love acting. Plain n simple. Dunno y but it excites me everytime to involve myself in a drama play or a small sketch. Mayb it has something to do with my personality. Since like to "show off", acting on stage provides me the platform to do so...

I have participated in numerous plays from young. From sunday school sketches to drama competitions, each of them were stg special 4 me. I had the opportunity to be spiderman, Yang Guo, Liu Chuan Feng, grandmother, and doggie as well! Though they were not main characters in the play, i always give my 100% to act this particular role out. And it always gives me full satisfaction to earn the applause from the crowd. That feeling is like ur fav team has just scored a goal~! superb~!

My first 自导自演 (self directed and acted as main character)sketch in Germany just ended today~! And im very satisfied with it. The chance to be able to work with germans in a play was something precious to me. Through many sessions of brainstorming with my mentor and fellow team members, we managed to put up a reasonably good sketch despite only starting to rehearse last nite!! In our short sketch we managed to put in diff elements like songs, jokes and even message for Christmas~! Thanks to all who have helped in this sketch! u guys r awesome!

The praises from the crowd: music to my ears! Esp when the germans lavish their praises on me. I am now looking forward to my next opportunity to be in charge of the next drama or sketch!

Plans 4 christmas

This week and the next one will be a hectic one 4 me. Since some of the lecturers tend to finish their syllabus b4 christmas, having tests b4 dat would not be surprising at all. Major event that would take place in this coming weeks:

1. MATLAB and EDV test: MATLAB is an engineering prog whereby lotsa maths stuff is involved. One can plot diff curves with it, calculate the the speed of a pendulum when it is released at x degress etc. EDV- C programmming. Many frens of mine can do well in it. But it's not my cup of tea. nearly made my roommate woke up at 2am in the morning cos wan to test a "beep non stop programme"...

2. After those tests, it's christmas service at my church. Well, u can say it's ntg rily special, but, this time im involved in a drama play. Apparently, my acting skills can finally be put to use after a long time dint act on stage, the last being acting a dog. This time i will b the main actor n director (like jay chou leh!). Hope everythg will go well. =)

3. Then, it's CHRISTMAS!!! going to try something that i have not tried b4 in my entire life---SKI!!! Hope that i can some bek as a whole and not break any legs or arms (choi!)...

4. SCAMPEN- Church camp at the south of germany. After 4 days of skiing in France, nid to go directly to the camp and start snowboarding!! Dunno got strength left to do so onot.. haha! but hey, snowboadring is stg new 4 me as well. must try!

sigh.. so many events coming soon... hopefully everything will turn out well...

p/s: u said that short hair looks better, so i cut it ady~!

Christmas's coming...

One of the main attractions of germany has to be the christmas market, stg which resembles our msian "pasar malam". Here in Esslingen it is even more special. The whole market is set up like a middle-age market, whereby ppl sells not only food and wine, but also swords, shields, bows and arrows, armour, and many things that r related to the middle age. The sellers dress themselves in middle-age costumes as well. It's just like going back to the past. Interesting!

Went with my german frens. These guys rily like to pose!!

One of the tents selling weird stuff...

got horns summore!

huge christmas trees!!

real-life sheep!!

~~~
只剩下钢琴陪我谈了一天
睡着的大提琴 安静的旧旧的
我想你已表现的非常明白
我懂我也知道 你没有舍不得
你说你也会难过我不相信
牵着你陪着我 也只是曾经
希望他是真的比我还要爱你
我才会逼自己离开
你要我说多难堪 我根本不想分开
为什么还要我用微笑来带过
我没有这种天份 包容你也接受他
不用担心的太多 我会一直好好过
你已经远远离开 我也会慢慢走开
为什么我连分开都迁就着你
我真的没有天份 安静的没这么快
我会学着放弃你 是因为我喜欢你
cockroaches in Germany!
Actually, i still cant manage to find any cockroaches in Germany. Probably they r scared of the weather here. cold cold cold...
The "cockroaches" that i mentioned are actually us Malaysian students who are living abroad. Cockroaches are notorious for their ability to survive despite tough conditions. Back in Msia, it's rily troublesome to kill a cockroach. No matter how many times u whack it, it still moves!!! Taken from Soon Lee's blog: A cockroach can live up to 9 days w/out its head!! No wonder ppl say u r a 打不死的蟑螂 when referring to guys who r persistent in their effort to win a gal's heart.
So y do i say dat we msian students abroad r like roaches? well, imagine having to listen to lectures in a foreign language, learning things that u haven seen b4 but are easy to the germans, having to sit for exams in german, and handing up assignments that u cant imagine that u have to do it all by urself. By the way, im not trying to brag or boast about how great i am or wad. But it's pretty cool that malaysian students can do many things.
I was given an assignment to construct a bearing-testing maschine. U might ask wat on earth is that stuff.. to b frank, i was asking the same question as well. Despite not knowing what that thing is, through help of frens and lecturer, i still manage to draw and hand up my drawing which looks pretty satisfying... (SPM and A-levels never taught me how to draw technically.)
Besides that, we will have every fortnight a so-called lab test. It's actually a test to evaluate wat we have prepared for the upcoming lab experiment. Many germans failed that. We malaysians so far all pass. strange huh?
This is the semangat of the cockroaches! We take watever that are thrown on us. Whack us, and we still move!
Hopefully i still can say this after my exam at the end of my sem. :b
The day when it started to snow...
This post can be a bit lame, cos im not in a really good mood. yup, it has started snowing... although it was only 4 a short while, but hey, outside look really white... i tried to go out w/out wearing long pants, just shorts on... grrrr.... *shiver*.... My housemate say i better stay indoor, cos ppl might think im crazy... haha.. who cares... the cold was unbearable... my housemate wanted to start a snowballfight. He was all wrapped up in jacket and long sweatpants while i was practically wearing only outfits that are common in Malaysia: T-shirt + shorts. wat to do? cabut lari la!!
Reason 4 foul mood = Arsenal F.C.
Chelsea 0-0 Newcastle
Liverpool 0-0 Fulham
Aston Villa 0-0 Man utd
If u think that Man City vs Arsenal would have the same scoreline as well, u're wrong!!!
Man City 3-0 Arsenal!!!
Which team on earth can still win the premier league title after losing to Hull City, Stoke, Fulham and Man City? Only Arsene Wenger thinks that his team can. Watching Arsenal play was always pleasing in the eye. Attack non-stop, dun defend at all... But lately, the fluency of play has gone, no more goals scored, backline leak goals more than Tottenham Hotspurs(zzzz...)in recent games. The feeling of losing is bad, and gets worse when we lose to teams who had just been promoted. ARRGGHHH!!!!
Now, the captain has been stripped of his post 4 critising his own team, our main striker adebayor is injured, our speedy Walcott is out for 3 months... our only hope of silverware: Carling cup.
Life 4 Arsenal can't be any worse than this. It really irks me to see Jia Jin every week with his sickening smirk on his face. "what happened to your Arsenal, lost again? look how good Man Utd are playing" =.=!!!!
At least it's snowing now... christmas is coming as well... i shud cheer up...
Never judge a book by its cover...
This is a clip of "Britain's got talent". Paul potts, a mobile phone salesman with ordinary looks, stunned the crowd and judges. The judges looked uninterested when he 1st appear on stage, but then when Paul began to sing,....
Never ever look down on ppl whom u think is inferior to you!
And this 6 year old girl, she can sing better than me! :b
German food in Malaysia!
A hearty meal with the right company in the right place is always memorable and can draw customers back.
The Bavarian Bierhaus is one such place.
The good food that come in generous portions make dining here enjoyable.
The German outlet now has regulars coming in to enjoy the German beer and meaty meals.
Due to the good response, it has opened a branch at the Wisma UOA II in Kuala Lumpur.
Generous portion: The Mixed Sausage Platter
Although adopting the same concept of excellent food and drinks, this outlet exudes a slightly different ambience.
Still cosy with German wall hangings, the new place has a bit more colour with the choice of sofas and brighter lights. Like the other outlet, it also opens out to the outdoors.
Restaurant manager Catherine Soo said the outlet served the same food as the one at The Curve in Petaling Jaya but it also has some new offerings on its menu.
“Here we have slightly different customers from the other outlet as there are more offices and walk-in customers from the nearby Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre,” she said.
The all-time favourites are still topping the charts and pork knuckles is one example.
There are a few types to choose from and new at this outlet are the Crispy Knuckle with Pineapple Gravy and the Crispy Knuckle with Thyme Infusion.
While the former comes with potatoes served with German mustard, the latter comes with roasted Parisienne Potatoes, German mustard and Red Wine cherry sauce.
Soo said part of the knuckle preparation was about boiling them for about three hours before they were prepared upon order.
A must-try: The fresh and aromatic pretzels.
The boiling tenderises the meat to a point where the meat easily separates from the bones while eating.
“The best part about the knuckle dish is the crispiness. Listen to the fresh crisp when you run your knife through it,” she said as she cut a portion of meat from the knuckle.
Each knuckle can weigh between 900g and 1.2kg and an average of 25 pieces are prepared in a day. However, over the weekend it is increased to 50 pieces.
Pork lovers’ must-try at the outlet is also the Pork Ribs, which is another hearty meal like the knuckles.
Customers can opt to order half the portion. This dish, garnished with slices of juicy pineapples, gets better with each bite.
Those who like sausages can try the Mixed Sausage Platter or the Foot Long Sausage.
The Pork Escalope is another option at this outlet. The meat is charred with Hickory Pepper and served with Mashed Potato, Sauteed Zucchini and Honey Mustard Dressing.
The oulet also serves excellent Pretzels.
The pretzels are fresh and aromatic.
The pretzels can also be eaten with Odatza, a savoury dip made from soft cheese, garlic, cream and pepper.
The outlet also has an interesting snack menu to go with its crisp and smooth Paulaner beers.
Some of these are Chilled Melon with Honey Cured Ham, Sauteed Tiger Shrimp with bacon, garlic, chilli and parsley and Boursin cheese crackers, pine nuts and tapanade.
It also has an interesting offer of set lunches at RM19++. It comes with a main course, soup of the day, iced-lemon tea or a soft drink.
BAVARIAN BIERHAUS, No. 8, ground floor, Wisma UOA II, Jalan Pinang, Kuala Lumpur
Taken from The Star 10/11/08
Frens in Msia, if got time n money(im sure it will b quite expensive), do try some german food available at this outlet, especially the sausages!!
Food that i eat until sien ady is being treated like delicacies in Msia. Whereas food like nasi lemak or bak kut teh which are common in Msia are treated like imperial dishes here in Germany.... zzz...
8.爱上一个人是美丽而没理由的
Got this from one of the bulletins @ frenster. Hmmm.... is this rily true? By asking ppl who r currently in a relationship or seeking one, the answer shud be obvious. However, the last point: loving someone has no reason at all. Is there no reason at all? Is it true that we humans are prone to being CRAZY or MADLY in love? No logical explaination at all to this so called LOVE feeling?
Dunno la... i leave this topic open... =)
I'm back...
After weeks w/out internet, i'm finally back. Reason of w/out internet will be explained in my next post.
For now, just let me "hao lian" in this post. My previous post was about snapping right? I was busy writing my report when i tot of the connections btw the topic n love. Well, guess wat? my report was the best in class!
The prof praised me in front of the whole class leh! dun play play! Apart from some little, tiny, very not obvious errors in the german language, everything in my report was well done! That feeling of being praised -- awesome!! i hope u all can let me shiok sendiri 4 a little longer... =)
See the red, tiny + on the top right corner? muahaha...
Engineering and love II
Writing a lab report regarding a particular topic can be brainwashing at times. To derive some excitement out of the boredom of writing german reports, i let my mind wander a little and.... below r the results of doing so...
I rmb the last time connecting love and Stress-Strain Graph together. Well, today's topic is a little different. It's about "Knicken" or "Snap" in english. When we let an object whereby its length is a lot larger than its width and height( a stick or a rod) experience a Push-Force, there is a high possibility that it would snap before reaching its maximum tensile strength. The pics below illustrates the "snapping" process of an iron rod under a force. The rod will bend suddenly towards its sides.
Such a phenomenon is something that engineers would like to avoid, especially in buildings and structures. So, as future engineers, we had to do some research on this phenomenon, to check out what factors influence snapping.
Well, factors like length of rod, surface area of the rod and the type of material strongly influences the occurence of snapping. The longer rod suffers snapping a lot faster than a shorter rod. An aluminium rod with a less Young Modulus than a steel rod snaps earlier. Diff surface areas, be it square, ring, triangle or circle have diff snapping force (Force which makes the rod snaps).
In our daily lives, there are many factors which can cause a relationship to come to an end, and in this case, an abrupt end, since snapping comes w/out warning. Does a strong relationship "snaps" easily? of cos not. Sadly, many relationships are like the aluminium rod, weaker than the steel rod. When trouble comes (Force applied), it just snaps. To achieve the toughness of a steel, one must go through many trials together. A steel has to go go through many heating processes before it can achieve its optimal condition. As a couple, do not run away when a problem arises. Face it, together, hand in hand!
Try and guess which type of surface area of the rod snaps the earliest... The circle or the ring profile? both have the same outer diameter...
The answer is: Ring-profile. The calculation is very complicated. But it is proven experimentally. In chinese, the rod with a full circle profile is called 实心 while the ring will be called 空心. 空心 means empty heart if we address each word individually. Well, if someone doesn't give his/her heart in a relationship, results means === SNAP!! We often come across phrases like "this love is a one-way-traffic". Meaning one party likes the other but not vice-versa. Love cannot be forced upon. If we cant sense anymore "heart" in this so called relationship, i guess it shud b time dat we take a serious look into matters. Do not wait until it snaps. Cos if it does snaps, it hurts!
Like the field of engineering, love relationships can be confusing and hard to explain. Ppl wan to become engineers so that they can build and create things, while earning lotsa money at the same time, but then they are afraid of long study years and unlimited projects and assignments. Ppl also want to love and being loved, to start a romantic relatonship whereby everything is sweet and wonderful but at the same time they are scared of being hurt. Haiz... this world has never ending problems...
But, there's always Someone to turn to. =)
Snapshots of Esslingen
Hmmm.. i guess i have to update my blog a bit after a whole week of occupying myself with Lab test, reports etc. I was on my way to Stuttgart 4 a bowling session with my members from my care group/ bible study group. Felt bored during the journey so took out my cam to snap some pics of the town im currently in: Esslingen
Esslingen is one of those town which were lucky to escape air bombings during WW2, unlike Heilbronn. So many buildings here still has that "old" style. Typical old european style houses. The river Neckar flows through this town as well. Together with the hills filled with grape plantation for wine production, Esslingen can be a very beautiful place for sight-seeing. But hey, dats stg attractive 4 the older generations n those who appreciates arts a lot. 4 someone like me, i'd rather exchange those sceneries for Starbucks, a shopping centre or maybe McD. =)
Alright, Lange Rede kurze Sinn. Long talk brings less meaning. Below are some shots from my town, my 2nd home.
Railway station:
See the hills behind? dat's where grapes are grown 4 wine production.
Bahnhof means train station. =)
It's autumn now. Leaves are getting yellow and are starting to fall.
Bus stop. Buses here r super punctual.
Rmb that i said i went 4 bowling while taking those pics? hmm.. guess wat, despite being a lousy bowler, i manage to score 113 pts, higher than all the germans! muahaha!
Malaysia Boleh! =)
Volksfest part 2
Went to Volksfest again yday with my german frens this time. Well, they certainly did show me how crazy germans can be.
My coursemates. Together we r triple D's! Daniel, David and David!
One of the beer tents here at the Fest.
Ever wonder how much beer do the germans consume during such an occasion? Well, see below:
This is a beer coupon which entitle the user to get a mug of beer (1 Mass Bier). One mug cost abt 8 euros after adding tips(RM 40). Oh btw, students can get 2 mugs of beer 4 the price of one.
This is the mug. 1 LITRE!! Btw, most germans will tend to drink more than 2 mugs.
While drinking, they will dance and sing along with the live band. They even have their own version of "Yamseng"!
Such a celebration is also a good time to make new frens, no matter u r a german or not. Above is the pic of ppl whom i got to know there. Too bad the gal is his gf. :b
Wan2 have a ride on this thing la!! It's the largest mobile ferris wheel in the world! Too bad no one wants to pei me... sobs...
Volksfest a.k.a Oktoberfest (not in Munich but Stuttgart!)
The Oktoberfest is one of the most popular event that takes place every year. Ppl usually relate it to Munich, one of the largest city in Germany. Well, it's not wrong. However, Stuttgart has its own version of Oktoberfest as well. Similar to the Oktoberfest in Munich, Stuttgart provides a great variety of food, entertainment and of course, beer 4 everyone to enjoy. Basically, it's like a fun-fair. There are many rides for ppl of all ages. From harmless horse rides for kids to crazy Sky-Screamer for those adventure-seekers. Then there are stalls selling food and drinks like beer, hot-dogs(some up to a metre long!)and snacks. It's all about eat, drink and play, till u drop (or throw up)! =)
This is only a part of the fun-fair. There were MANY types of rides, some are even scary enough to make one wet their pants. Can fight with Spore Escape theme park.
BEER. Without it, there won't be any Oktoberfest. Crowds can be seen lining up just to get into one of the beer-drinking tents. Inside this building are ppl drinking non stop, partying and dancing all day and night with live bands.
Germans love sweet stuff. So all these lovely and so-nice-until-dun-feel-like-eating-them candies r being sold at most stalls here.
Including all these cute chocolate mice. Will u bear to eat them? >.<
cold cold cold....
After one month n seven days of total enjoyment and relaxation, the inevitable has come - start of 2nd semester. It's time to let go of the luxury of sleeping very late at night and wake up very late in the morning, not to mention the wonderful breakfast on the dining table that awaits me every morning. Days of dun have to worry about studies, projects and assignments have come to an end. No more tv shows, good food, n family's warmth. REALITY STRIKES!!! and it hurts!
The warm weather of summer has long gone, welcoming me back to Germany was the sheer cold of autumn. 5 degrees! Dun ask me hw isit like during winter, i dun dare to imagine. The feeling of emptiness attacks me both physically n mentally. Arrive at doorstep around 10am Germany time. Open the door, no one greets me. Oh ya, my housemate has just left 4 work. The whole house is surrounded by coldness n silence. Dun have sounds coming out from the tv at home, dun have the irritating voice of my annoying brother, dun have the nagging tone of my mum (just joking mum)... nothing at all, just pure silence. The only thing that i could do was to turn on my computer and listen to MyFM thru the internet, something which sounds more like home...
sigh... guess i need to shrug off this Home-Withdrawal-Symptom soon...
old song~
Was browsing around in popular bookstore in Plaza Pelangi, a place where i frequently visit during my sec school days... This was when i heard this song playing on the speaker...
Only Love - Trademark
2 a.m. and the rain is falling
Here we are at the crossroads once again
You're telling me you're so confused
You can't make up your mind
Is this meant to be
You're asking me
[Chorus]
But only love can say - try again or walk away
But I believe for you and me
The sun will shine one day
So I'll just play my part
And pray you'll have a change of heart
But I can't make you see it through
That's something only love can do
In your arms as the dawn is breaking
Face to face and a thousand miles apart
I've tried my best to make you see
There's hope beyond the pain
If we give enough, if we learn to trust
[Chorus]
I know if I could find the words
To touch you deep inside
You'd give our dream just one more chance
Don't let this be our last good-bye
[Chorus]
That's something only love can do
One awesome week!
2nd week in Msia. Well, still not much changes in my sleeping schedule. Sleep at 3, 4am and wake up late in the morning. Sigh...
Anyway, this 2nd week was quite a fruitful one. Went back to Shah Alam to meet up with my fellow juniors. Had the chance to visit KL as well, not mentioning the chance to eat those yummy food dat one cant find in Germany!
This is our room in Shah Alam. In my previous hostel to be precise. Can u imagine that such a place could even exist in our Cemara Hostel, the same place which i complained a lot last time? Got air con some more!!
Been to Klang as well. And this is stg that one shud not overlook when one is in Klang. Bak Kut Teh!!
This is a snapshot of The Gardens. The new shopping place beside Mid Valley. Looks grand huh... Anyway, things there r rily expensive. Even after converting my Euros!
Attended CA as well. Had the chance to conduct the ice breaking session. The juniors love chocolates from Germany very much. Dunno why...
After the trip to Shah Alam, had the chance to meet my old sec school frens the next day. It was a fun time talking about the good old days. Best of all is the chance to tease Ah Doi n Pei Wen. Eh u2, if u r reading this, must jia you oh~ haha. Mont Kiara go Serdang got bus de... :b
My hair, dunno wat to say about it...
